Trainee Sign Maker

Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our growing team. Signs & Labels Hereford Ltd has been established since 1999, growing organically from humble beginnings to now becoming one of the leading signage and visual communication manufacturers and installers within our region. Our work varies greatly from large format print through to vehicle graphics and CNC cutting, working business to business with every sector.
This is a predominantly workshop-based role but there may be times when you are required to assist the installation team.
No previous experience is required and there is an opportunity to grow your skills within our business.

Key Responsibilities 

• To ensure all signage is completed on time and to an extremely high standard.
• Keep the workshop to an extremely high standard.
• Receive and help unload deliveries.
• Always follow company safety procedures.
• Acquire knowledge and skills related to sign-making, including understanding various materials, tools, and techniques used in the process.
• Assist in the selection, preparation, and cutting of materials such as vinyl, metal, wood, or plastic for sign production.
• Learn how to operate and maintain machinery such as vinyl plotters, CNC machines, mounting tables, and laminators.
• Participate in the assembly of sign components, including mounting, framing, and applying graphics.
• Understand and implement quality control measures to ensure that finished signs meet the specified standards and client expectations.
• Package up finished client products ready for collection.
• Work to strict deadlines to ensure signs are completed on time.

Personal Characteristics

• Our industry varies widely and includes working with a vast number of materials (wallpapers, window graphics, large format, exhibition, fascia signage, built-up and illuminated lettering) so willingness and flexibility to learn are crucial.
• A technical mind and practical skills
• Self-motivated and driven.
• Strong attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
• Be able to work as a team to deliver set targets but also be confident enough to work alone.
